The purpose of the Naturalization tests is to verify proficiency in the English Language and knowledge of U.S. Civics (i.e. American government and American history).

Immigration Protection for Victims of Crime

The U.S. created the U Visa to strengthen the ability of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute serious criminal cases while, at the same time, offering protection to non-citizen victims of such crimes. You do not have to be in the U.S. legally to benefit from this protection.

Government Shutdown and Immigration Services

Due to disagreements with the president over the amount the U.S. government should be spending, we are now in the second week that Congress has not passed a budget for this fiscal year (October 1 to September 30). The result has been a government shutdown.
